Prof. Davor Zeljezic, PhD, ERT works as a Scientific Advisor, tenure position, at the Institute for Medical Research and Occupational Health, Unit for Toxicology, Zagreb, Croatia. For last 25 years main field of his research has been genetic toxicology, methods applied being chromosomal aberrations analysis, micronucleus assay, alkaline and enzyme-modified comet assay, sister chromatid exchange test, fluorescent in situ hybridization (FISH) on metaphase chromosomes, micronucleus and comet assay. Beside genotoxicity evaluation in different cell culture models or animals determining the effect in different organs and tissues, he participated in epidemiological genotoxicity studies comprising populations occupationally exposed to various agents and studies aiming to define baseline level of genetic damage in general population. Genotoxicity assessments were mainly focused on effect of pesticides, mycotoxins, and dental materials. In 2017 he was recognized as European Registered Toxicologist (ERT) and certified. He has experience as a scientific and organizing committees’ member of 3 international and 4 domestic conferences, being a principal investigator of 2 domestic research projects, member of project proposals evaluation panels, member of the editorial board of the BioMed Research International and Toxics, guest editor of the special issue of the Water, expert at the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA), expert at the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). He acted as the president of the Croatian branch of the EUROTOX's Register of certified toxicologists, certified as European Registered Toxicologist by Federation of European Toxicologists and European Societies of Toxicology EUROTOX, is a member of the Partner Experts Group for revision of the REACH regulation of European Commission in the field of mutagenicity/genotoxicity testing and endocrine disruption, member of the REACH Exposure Expert Group (REEG) of ECHA, member of the Croatian Toxicological Society, European Association for Cancer Research, European Cytogeneticists Association.
